Bat Oni (コウモリ鬼 Bat Oni) is a notable variant in the series. It first appears in Ao Oni 2, and has made significant appearances in most of the mobile games.

Appearance[]

Bat Oni shares the same appearance as Ao Oni's head, however, it is significantly bigger in size. Ontop of its head lays bat ears in the same color of its skin, as well as having bat wings sticking out from both sides of its back, although it is hard to tell which part in specific. Additionally, its fangs are exposed and long enough to reach its chin.

Roles[]

Bat Oni appears as a 2-star mask in all mobile games, and is only absent from Ao Oni X.

Ao Oni 2[]

In the Teacher's scenario, Bat Oni shows up as a recurring chaser. It first appears after Teacher obtains the glowing glitter from a dark room, which causes Bat Oni to appear and chase her away. Later, Bat Oni surprise attacks the Teacher as she traverses the balcony, chasing her down through the interconnected buildings until she hears her students from the rooftop.

Additionally, Bat Oni is rewarded to those who complete Nike-Chan's scenario, but it does not appear in said scenario naturally without its mask.

Ao Oni (Mobile Remake)[]

Bat Oni exclusively appears as a mask in this version, however, it is freely rewarded to players who have Ao Oni 2 installed as well.

Ao Oni 3[]

In Takeshi's scenario, Bat Oni takes a major role. It is found within a dark room only lit by a few lightbulbs, and Takeshi must stay close to the light sources, as Bat Oni chases the player while they remain in the dark. Bat Oni also appears as one of the variants within the pit Takeshi has to cross from above.

Ao Oni Online[]

Bat Oni appears as one of the launch masks, being able to randomly replace an Ao Oni during a 100 Players match. It has only received one mask in all of the game's history: Pixel Art Bat Oni.

Trivia[]

  • Bat Oni's has 4 frames of animation for each moving direction, unlike all other sprites, which usually have 3. This means Bat Oni has 12 frames of animations and is tied with Injured Oni for the highest amount of moving frames of all sprites.
    • However, the way they obtain this title is different; Bat Oni stays at 3 directions but has 4 frames for each, while Injured Oni has 4 directions but stays at 3 frames for each.
