Takuro (卓郎 Takurō?) is one of the four protagonists in the Ao Oni series, though in the novel, he takes on a more antagonistic role. He is the secondary antagonist in the first film and is the main protagonist in Ao Oni Ver. 2.0.

Appearance[]

Takuro is usually displayed as an attractive middle school boy with shaggy brown hair and dark-colored eyes. His sprite's hair style is usually shown in a ponytail, yet he does not have one in the novel and movie.

In the novel he wears a dark red jacket with white paint like splatters, and his pants are black with chains on his belt. He wears a cross like necklace on his neck. His hair is a bright dark red and short. His skin is also tan, though the specific degree fluctuates. He is described by Satchi that "he is hot no matter what he does."

Personality[]

His personality fluctuates between the games, books and movies, but some traits are the same. As the son of the president of a large company, he is handsome and narcissistic, always caring about how his hair looks above other things. On the outside, he seems to be an honor student who likes soccer, but on the inside, he is a cruel and brutal bully.

Like Hiroshi, Takuro wishes to escape the mansion and help the others. He possesses the most leadership qualities out of the four. He is usually friendly towards his friends, though his personality differs from version 1.1, the novel series and the movie, in which he is a selfish bully who shows rivalry towards Hiroshi and cruelty toward Takeshi.

It's unknown how he feels about Mika in the movie, but in the game and Ao Oni Ver. 2.0, he seems to care for her a lot. Takuro is similar in the first novel, but in the second he sees Mika as replaceable - that "he can get another girlfriend" whenever he wants. However, he realizes later on that he has real feelings for her.

Takuro is also an overachiever, and always seems to be jealous of Hiroshi because he can't beat his grades. However, this is only a glimpse into the darker side of his personality. When Kazuya and Anna tried to blackmail him by putting a picture of how he bullied Naoki in his locker, he smashed a plant into someone helping out and got them sent to the hospital. He also gave Kazuya a stomach bug and killed Anna's parents.

Roles[]

Ao Oni (Games)[]

Version 1.1[]

In his debut, Takuro forces Kazuya and Hiroshi to join him and his friends inside the mansion. When Hiroshi leaves them to investigate a noise, the Oni attacks them.

Eventually Takuro meets up with Hiroshi who tells him where Megumi is, only to have the Oni kill him shortly afterward.

Version 3.0[]

Takurodeath

His gruesome death.

Takuro is the first to die, getting his head is bitten off by the Oni. He only reappears in Hiroshi's dream as "alive," but he doesn't have a dialogue in that scene.

Version 5.2[]

Takuro is not seen again until the first encounter with him in the archive room. It is possible to rescue him at the end by traveling all the way back to the library and speaking with him in the corner.

He also gets Mika to join him and Hiroshi to go to the exit. Later on, him and Hiroshi are on the roof top of their school hoping their experiences from the mansion were just a dream.

Version 6.23[]

Takuro is the last person to become an Oni, again essentially meeting his fate like in Version 3.0. Unlike Mika or Takeshi, he acts just as proactively as Hiroshi does, insisting the two split up to find an exit.

During his search, he twists his ankle and hides in a closet in the annex basement. He returns when you get the last blue piece, but turns into a Oni as you are about to place the blue piece in the room with the exit.

Ao Oni (Novel)[]

Although Takuro seems like your average handsome, soccer-loving honor student, he is actually a brutal bully and the worst sort of scum. A narcissist, Takuro's not above checking his hairdo every moment of the day. His father is the owner of a very wealthy corporation.

Ao Oni (2014 film)[]

Takuro as he appears in the 2014 film.

Takuro is played by Jinnai Syo.

Takuro is first seen along with Takeshi pushing and harassing Shun on the streets. Anna sees it, but does nothing about it. Takuro then approaches Shun, taking his laptop away from him, before pushing a crate to the jailhouse. There, he meets up with Takeshi, his girlfriend Mika and Hiroshi, who just turns up. Takuro goes down to the Annex, where he stays for most of the movie, moving stuff around and smoking.

When Hiroshi, Shun and Anna go down to the Annex, they both see Takuro beat Hiroshi down with a wooden plank. He then reveals that he killed Shun and hid his body in the crate he has been pushing to the jailhouse, before pulling out a knife and threatening to kill Anna. However, the Oni suddenly appears and drags Takuro away, mauling him to death. This buys time for Anna and Hiroshi to escape.
